HS2 website.

Take a good look around this website from HS2. It gives the viewpoint of the project from the Government side of things. What I find particularly interesting is the advertising of this project being completely environmentally conscious and will help achieve a carbon neutral future.

When researching these pages, make sure to question what it means for a project to be environmentally friendly. Can destroying 100s of ancient woodland make a project environmentally friendly? Is our Government implicit in greenwashing? There are lot of questions to ask here.

Diane Taylor's 'HS2 protesters say condition in Euston tunnel are deteriorating'. The Guardian

This is just one of many articles from UK news outlets that give information about what is happening inside the Euston tunnel. Give it a read and make sure to compare it to first hand accounts that are coming from protestors. Are there any biases here? What are and aren't the UK media showing?

Roger Harrabin's 'HS2: could the pandemic kill off the rail project?' for the BBC

This is a really interesting article questioning the necessity of HS2. The pandemic has definitely changed how we all work, and throughout this article it is argued that the need to travel for work will be less as a result of the success of remote working. What do you think? Do you think this pandemic will change the way we work for good? Have a read of the article by clicking here, and let me know what you think.

Gwyn Tophan. 'HS2 construction of £106bn high-speed real line officially starts'. The Guardian

I've included this article for those of you who want to learn more about how HS2 came about. This article is from September 2020, when HS2 construction officially started. The article highlights that there were already objections to the proposed project before construction started.

@HS2rebellion

This Instagram account gives access to the protestors and XR rebels behind the current 'Battle for Euston'. If you want an in depth account of what is happening on the group at Euston, make sure to follow. This account does daily live sessions showing the scenes as and when action happens. They also share videos of protestors in the tunnel who are currently struggling to maintain health and safety of the tunnel as a result of HS2 workers and bailiffs trying to remove protestors.

What do you all think of @HS2rebellion's actions? Do you think they're necessary? Or reckless in a pandemic? Let me know your thoughts and lets start some open conversations!

'Save Roald Dahl Woods from HS2' on Facebook

I joined this Facebook group back in September when construction on HS2 began. This group shares information about what HS2 construction has been doing to the local wildlife. They also share information on the protest camps that have been set up all along the HS2 construction line to try and save ancient woodland.

Like the @HS2rebellion account on Instagram, this Facebook group gives insight from protestors on the ground. This information is particularly interesting to compare to what HS2 are saying, and what UK media outlets are saying too.
