'Media reaction: Boris Johnson's 10 point net-zero plan for climate change' by Carbon Brief.

This piece by Carbon Brief has been super helpful in getting my own head around Johnson's 10 point plan. It also explores how different media companies have reacted and responded to these policies, giving a rounded view of both the positives and negatives. It's a simple and interesting read, with hyperlinks directing you to the information on each point on the plan. I would definitely recommend taking a look if you want just a general overview of the plan or you don't have time to read through the whole thing.

'The 10 point plan for a green industrial revolution' by the Department for business, energy + industrial strategy.

For those of you with the time, or those who want a bit of a challenge, have a go at reading the actual Policy Paper released by the Government. There is a lot of unnecessary waffle, so I would first read the introduction + then click through the 10 points. Under each point is a subheading 'Target milestones' which I think is important to read and remember in order to hold our Government accountable. This is a long reading, and I must admit I've read chunks in different sittings. Let me know how you get on though.

I shall also be writing a blog in response to this 10 point plan in due course, so keep an eye out for that.

'Boris Johnson announces 10 point green plan for a Green Industrial Revolution' in The Guardian by Peter Walker + Jessica Elgot.

This article in The Guardian, gives an overview of responses to the plan from politicians to climate charities. It becomes clear in this article that our Government is not doing enough to fight climate change + the ecological crisis, relying heaving on technology to solve issues. Since starting Call Us Angels, I have found that The Guardian is starting to write more about climate change and the ecological crisis. Not only would I suggest reading this article then, I would also recommend taking a look through the website's climate change section too.

Here is the link to search through The Guardian's climate change articles too. Let me know if you find anything that should be on our next reading list.

'It's not enough' post on Instagram by @XRSHEFF.

Extinction Rebellion UK was one of the first organisations to actively criticise the Government's 10 point plan, and as a result it seemed important to highlight why groups from XR believe this plan is not enough. @XRSHEFF, based in Sheffield, created a really informative post highlighting that more money is needed for a Green Revolution. They also contrast that bill to the Government's simultaneous announcement for increased military spending. When viewing this post, maybe think about: 1. is this plan enough  to fight against climate change and the ecological crisis, 2. how do you feel about XR as a group + why, + 3. why does the UK Government need to spend more money on military than a greener future?

Get in touch + let me know your thoughts! It would be great to start a conversation.
